Organizational Strategy
In recent years, it has become increasingly clear that the needs of African American women in technology are not being addressed in existing professional networks. Most professional technology networks are male and/or white dominated. The DigitalSistas Network was established to develop a mechanism to integrate, link, and provide a platform for African American women in technology.
The DigitalSistas Network is positioned as a "loud and clear" voice in its mission to act as a platform to support African American women who are actively engaged in technology related careers. DigitalSistas-Unplugged is a unique vehicle for facilitating networking among African American women who are part of the online community (The DigitalSistas Network) as well as those who are planning careers in technology or thinking about a career change. DigitalSistas Unplugged is our vehicle for facilitating networking, training, and related events for women off-line. DigitalSistas-Unplugged will be a proven marketing strategy to ensure growth in its online community. The DigitalSistas Network is currently being administered as a program of Multi-Media Concepts, Inc.
Operational Structure
A series of Action Teams will be developed to tap into and address the issues and trends facing African American Women in Digital Media and Information Technology. Action Teams will be established to focus on the following focus areas: Membership/Recruiting, Finance / Fundraising, Business Development & Corporate Relations, Industry/New Technology, Professional Development & Education, Mentoring and Events Planning. The Action Teams will be responsible for developing specific activities to accomplish their respective objectives. An Advisory Council will also be established and will be comprised of co-chairs from each Action Team.
Strategic Partnerships
The DigitalSistas Network strives to ensure growth among African American women, promote research and development, product development and sales. Building Strategic Partnerships is the key to our success.
In our efforts to focus on the needs of African American women pursuing or currently engaged in technology related careers, we strive to build strategic partnerships with the private and corporate sector as well as other technology groups. Our goal is to provide our membership base with access to information and resources that address their educational, professional and business needs which promote collaboration, peer-to-peer networking and personal growth. Strategic Partnerships are currently being negotiated with several tech groups, businesses and educational institutions.
